Wanting to fit in can lead to social anxiety, exam or school work stress can lead to unhelpful coping mechanisms that manifest in habits such as intrusive thoughts, binge eating or food restriction, obsessive behaviours, phobias, depression, panic attacks, issues with not sleeping enough or wanting to sleep all the time. All of the above are, of course, not restricted to teens but it can be a difficult time for them and for you as a parent or carer.
I believe all tweens and teens should have a basic knowledge of the neuroscience behind why we think and feel the way we do, so I work with them to help them understand their developing brain.
This therapy allows young people to take control of how they want to be feeling and also how to get there. This is a really accessible and positive therapy that helps them build tools that will last a lifetime.
The consultation gives us a chance to get to know each other. I’ll ask you all about what you would like to achieve from our sessions, and give you an introduction into the brain and why we feel the way we do. I’ll then send you a hypnotherapy MP3 for you to start listening to ahead of our first session, ideally no more than a week later.
We’ll kick off by going over the neuroscience of how our brains work.
This is the part where I’ll be asking you questions. The premise of this is that you know your life better than anyone else - I’ll help you identify what needs to happen to get you back on track.
Every session ends with 20 minutes of hypnotherapy. This is where your conscious and subconscious mind come together to focus on the same thing.
The initial consultation is free and each session after that is £60. We work quickly - many people only need between 8 and 10 sessions.
